Volunteer Day #2: Saturday, September 13, 2014
VMUG Volunteer Day- Saturday, Sept 13th
About
We will be staffing the Bashor, KS rest stop at Bashor Linwood High school Saturday September 13th from 9:30 to 2:30pm, and the Tonganoxie (location TBD) stop from 10am to 4pm.
For the riders we will be making sandwiches, slicing fruit, making shots of pickle juice… Whatever is provided in the tent, we prepare and serve to riders.
A tent rental company will come out and setup the tent the night before which is staked out and extremely sturdy – this isn’t a popup canopy.
Each rest stop will have a ham radio volunteer to communicate with the entire route as well as a medical volunteer.
Children volunteers are welcome, but we would like to have at least EIGHT adults present for each site. If we get sufficient volunteers, we will break the day into morning & afternoon shifts. Youth age 16 or older can attend without a parent and count as an adult. This is a great opportunity for high school service hours…
Bring your own folding chairs and be prepared – pack rain gear, towels – if we load a truck, the truck will not be able to pull into the tent.
