Don’t forget about the @vBrisket bus stop, Wed 24-Aug, in KC at Woodyard BBQ.  Evite is up, please register today so they have proper numbers!!!

For those of you heading to VMworld, here are some of the suggestions from the meeting:

• Hit up the labs
• TALK to others
• Try to stay away from “Marketecture” sessions
• Wear comfortable shoes
• Start taking Emergen-C or additional Vitamin C now to help boost your imune system
• Drink lots of water
• Hit up outside events, such as VMunderground and #vBrownBag tech talks in hang space.

For those of you not going you can follow along at home.

• The #vBrownBag talks are recorded and added to their YouTube page. They upload them pretty quickly. Follow their main page or YouTube page to see when they are uploaded.
• The keynotes are streamed live online.  They will have a link on the main page at http://www.vmworld.com/en/us/index.html
• Don’t forget that the VMware Hands on Labs are always available online and they are FREE!!!  You can test drive a lot of products without being bugged by sales staff.  :)

—Eric Lee

The timing is a bit fluid—it’ll depend on when the bus arrives from Chicago in the early evening—but the plan is for a “meat up” for the travellers to sample some award-winning bar-b-que at The Woodyard BBQ in KCKS, and anyone from the KC metro area is invited to join in the fun…

If you’re interested, register here: Kansas City Meat-up

Hope to see you there!!!

• Nutanix Presentation: Converged Platform for VMware
• VMUG Member Presentation
• VMware Technical Presentation
• Ask the Experts, Announcements, and Drawings

We are doing something special for the holidays thanks to our sponsor Nutanix. For every non-perishable food item you bring to donate to Harvesters, you will get 1 entry into a drawing for a pair of Beats Headphones. We will donate all the food to Harvesters upon the completion of the event.

First up is the small-format movie premiere sponsored by SimpliVity. We’re being treated to some product information and a private showing of the new Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay, Pt1 on Friday, November 21 from noon to 5pm. Attendance will be extremely limited and managed through EventBrite registration rather than the VMUG website.

Second is a vBeers/Happy Hour following the movie event—regardless of whether you attend the movie event or not—coordinated by the KCVMUG Volunteers committee. Unline your typical vBeers, we’re requesting donations (suggesting $20) to help the committee reach a goal of $700 to donate to The Salvation Army’s Childrens’ Shelter. This event is being held at Rock & Brews on W 135th Street in OPKS. We will be able to collect cash donations as well as have a couple laptops available for you to make a donation either directly to the Salvation Army or via another private EventBrite page. (If you plan to make a direct donation before the event, just bring a copy of your confirmation with a date from this month and we’ll count it towards our goal.)
